Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has defended all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup, acknowledging a temporary dip in form but expressing full confidence in his abilities.

Focus on Teamwork not Ravindra Jadeja

Paras Mhambrey emphasized the importance of teamwork, stating that not all players will peak at the same time. He highlighted ongoing discussions between coach Rahul Dravid and head selector Vikram Rathour with Ravindra Jadeja, suggesting efforts to keep him motivated.

“I think it’s a team game, right? It’s going to be 11 guys. You really don’t expect all of them coming into form. It’s going to be performed every game that will happen. For me, I personally feel whatever conversations Rahul and Vicky are having around, I’ve been pretty happy with it. And you expect a one-odd game out there,” Mhambrey said during the India vs USA pre-match press conference.

One bad game for Ravindra Jadeja?

The bowling coach dismissed concerns, pointing out that a long tournament like the World Cup allows for recovery. He believes Jadeja, with his vast experience, only needs one good performance to regain his rhythm. Mhambrey also mentioned that other players, like Shivam Dube, are facing similar form fluctuations.

“It’s a long tournament. I think…someone like Jadeja, who’s so vastly experienced, he just needs a game out there to just get his roots around and feel around. And we know that the skills that he has and the experience, he’s going to go ahead and he’s going to win your games. So that confidence we have in not only Jadeja but honestly with someone like Dube and others as well,” he added.

Backing Team India players crucial

Mhambrey stressed the importance of backing players, especially in a high-pressure environment like the World Cup. He acknowledged that a bad game can spark criticism, but assured that the team supports Jadeja through these moments.
