Bangladesh’s pace sensation, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, found himself in hot water after a mid-match incident during their T20 World Cup clash against Nepal. Despite a stellar bowling performance (4/7), Tanzim was docked 15% of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.
What actually happened with Tanzim Hassan?
The incident unfolded in the early stages of Nepal’s chase of 107. While bowling a fiery spell, Tanzim had a close encounter with Nepal’s captain, Rohit Paudel. While the exact exchange remains undisclosed, it was deemed to be a violation of Article 2.12, which prohibits “inappropriate physical contact” during the T20 World Cup group stage clash.
Thankfully, the on-field situation didn’t spiral out of control. The umpires, Ahsan Raza, Sam Nogajski, Jayaraman Madanagopal (third umpire), and Kumar Dharmasena (fourth umpire), took swift action and filed a complaint.

However, credit goes to Tanzim for taking responsibility for his actions. He readily admitted to the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by Richie Richardson of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees. This eliminated the need for a formal hearing.
While the fine might put a slight damper on his performance, there’s no denying Tanzim’s brilliance on the field. His exceptional bowling display was instrumental in securing a convincing 21-run victory for Bangladesh, thus successfully defending the lowest first-innings total ever in T20 World Cups.
