The Tamil Nadu cricketer brought up his 6th Test century on Day 1, saving India from the blushes after the team’s batters failed to fire. While Jadeja was dismissed shortly after the start of play on Day 2, Ashwin managed to hold on for a bit longer before Taskin Ahmed sent him packing.

Ashwin’s 113-run knock came to an end after the all-rounder faced 133 deliveries. His knock was studded with 11 fours and two sixes. As he walked back to the pavilion after he was dismissed, he was given a standing ovation from his teammates and the Chennai crowd.
