The Gautam Gambhir era is all set to begin as India kick-off the T20I series against Sri Lanka. The former World Cup winning star took over the reins from Rahul Dravid, who ended his stint on a high note with the T20 World Cup win. Ahead of Gambhir’s first game as new India coach, Dravid had a special message and a few tips for the southpaw.

Dravid’s message for new India coach Gambhir

Dravid welcomed Gambhir to the most exciting job in the world and noted that he will treasure the friendships he had created with the squad, wishing Gambhir to also do the same. He wished Gambhir luck in finding fully fir players for every squad. The former coach advised Gambhir to stay calm, take a step back and even crack a smile in heated situations.

Gambhir reacted to Dravid’s special message, noting that it meant a lot to him. The new India coach recalled Dravid’s contributions, both as coach and player, for the country and said that he would hope make Dravid proud of him.

After 2015, Dravid was associated with the BCCI, having been the head coach for India’s U-19 and India A teams. He then become the director at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) before becoming the new head coach for India in 2021.
